Create a simple doc. in an Indian language


Aim: To create a simple document in an Indian language (Marathi/Hindi) using word processor and Unicode font.

STEP 1.

Visit the Google page http://www.google.co.in/inputtools/windows/.


Install To download and install, follow these steps:
  1. On the download page, select the languages by checking the checkboxes. More than one language of input tools can be installed on the same client machine.
  2. Check the checkbox before "I agree to the Google Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.", and click "Download" button to download installer.
  3. Run the installer after download completed, and follow the instructions on screen.
Step 2 

Open MS Word 
(1) Click Start --> Microsoft Office Word 2007 to launch Word 2007.
(2) Click the Office button. In the drop down menu, 
             --> click on the Word Options button File to open the Word Options dialog box. 
 --> See the options enabled in the Proofing section. 
 --> In the Advanced section, scroll down to the 
--> Show text boundaries option. 
Click the OK button to close the dialog box. 



You will be able to see a non-printable dotted boundary in the Work area. 

The boundary demarcates the margins from the text area.

Step 3.
Setting up Google Input Tool:
Click the language icon MA on the Language bar, and select Marathi as the language.
If more than one keyboard layout for a single language has been set up, 
click the keyboard layout icon on the Language bar, 
and then select Google Input Tools
You will see the Google Input Tools status window,
The Font list box on the Home tab of the Ribbon shows that Mangal font has been selected.
(For typing in Marathi/Hindi, you may also select Kokila, another Unicode Devanagri
font.) Select the desired font size.
